Week 9/2/19 (LABOR DAY) - 9/4/19:

MAKE SURE TO SCROLL TO THE CORRECT WEEK AS I HAVE POSTED THE WORK AHEAD THROUGH 9/9/19 BELOW.

SPANISH 2:

  • FOR MONDAY, 9/9:
    • On pg. 11, do section 3, (write the dates shown on the 3 calendars). Section 4, #1-3 (Make sure to read the "Nota" yellow box).
    • Read pp. 14-15 on seasons and weather.
    • Answer: What is your favorite season and what is the weather like for that season (in Spanish)?
    • Continue to study counting!

SPANISH 1:

  • FOR MONDAY, 9/9:
    • Continue to study counting on pg. 8, making sure to notice the patterns discussed in class for numbers 16-19 & 21-29. Then notice how after 30, the pattern is similar each time it starts 31-39, 41-49, 51-59, and so on up to 99.
    • On pg. 8, section 1, you are to count by tens from 10-100. Write these numbers down. Also, section 2, #1-8.
    • Answer: What is your favorite Spanish word you have learned so far and why?

Week 8/26/19 - 8/28/19 - Welcome Back!

SPANISH 2:

  • DUE WEDNESDAY, 9/4 (Labor Day Holiday Monday, 9/2):
    • Make sure you are studying counting on pg. 8; plus days of the week & months of the year on pg. 10. (Note cards work well for this. Also remember my Quizlet link at the top right of this blog.)
      • Remember days of the week and months of the year are not capitalized. Also, the Spanish week starts on Monday. 
      • For counting, make sure notice the patterns discussed in class for numbers 16-19 & 21-29. Then notice how after 30, the pattern is similar each time it starts 31-39, 41-49, 51-59, and so on up to 99.
    • Write (not say) the numbers listed on pg. 8, section 2, #1-8; & on pg. 9, section 5, #1-9, you do not have to write questions, only write the numbers in Spanish.
    • Do page 8, section 3, #1-4. 
  • DUE WEDNESDAY, 8/28:
    • Read pp. 8-11 on counting, days of the week and months of the year. Make sure to refresh these concepts.
    • Answer the following: What would you say in the following situations?
      • You encounter your instructor in the morning and ask how he or she is.
      • In the grocery store, you run into a friend you haven't seen for a while.
      • You meet a friend's five-year-old daughter in the park and ask how she is.
      • You meet an older person and want to know his or her name.
      • Someone asks what's new with you.

    • Read pp. 2-7 on greetings, farewells, and courtesy. Begin learning the vocabulary presented today. It will also be used for the questions below.
    • Answer the following: What would you say in the following situations?
      • You encounter your instructor in the morning and ask how he or she is.
      • Someone asks how you are. You are not feeling well.

ALL OF THIS WORK IS REVIEW. After last test, these are topics that greatly need reviewed on!!! It IS a LOT of work, however IF YOU DO IT, it will help to bring up your grade after the test.

  • For Monday: Handout-page11 #2,3,5,10,11; page 13 # 4,6,8,10,14; and do the Reading Comprehension "Ir de compras" page 13 and answer questions 1-3 on page 14
Spanish 1:
  • Homework for Wednesday: page 103 section 7, page 106 section 11, page 117 section 6
  • For Thursday, finish sections that you did not get finished during class. 
  • For Monday:
    • Complete page 116 sections 2 & 3, and page 123 section 6.
    • Make sure to study vocabulary from Chapter 3, regular -ar verbs and their meanings, irregular verbs from the chapter, and the contractions ("al" and "del").
    • Test on Chapter 3 will be coming up in the next week.

  • Due Tuesday: Page 205-section 4, p. 208-section 12: Choose verb (yellow box) for each item (blue box), and section 10: ONLY DO THE TOP 2 QUESTIONS UNDER EACH NUMBER
  • TUESDAY CLASS: 
    1. Watch clips on Rick Steves.
    2. Turn in Monday pm homework.
    3. Worksheet PAGES 1-4: 
      1. Pay attention to Singular noun as subject versus Plural noun as subject versus Verb as subject, and how gustar changes.
      2.  Note gustar remains singular even if followed by a series of verbs
      3. Note how to make the sentence negative and the placement of "no".
      4. Learn the difference between Te gusta(n), Le gusta(n), Nos gusta(n), and Les gusta(n)...
      5. Know when you need to specify who you are talking about: A ud, le gusta... A ellos, les gusta... and that you can also use A mi, me gusta... & A ti, te gusta...
    4. Complete section 10.2 by Wednesday.
Spanish 1:

    • There will be a quiz on Direct Object Pronouns. (Refer to video on YouTube: "Direct Object Pronouns" shown in class) 
    • There are images below on Direct Object Pronouns. Mrs. Cole has a copy of this handout. It is recommended that you get a copy from her. There are 2 sides: Side-1- has information on direct object pronouns (similar to what you took notes on in class from the video) Side-2 -has a worksheet on direct object pronouns that is due Monday

    • What is the correct direct object pronoun (me, te, lo, la, nos, los, las) for the following nouns?

    • Replace the direct object pronoun in the following sentences using the rules for Direct Object Pronouns as discussed in class. You may review the video on the internet if needed.

  • DON'T FORGET TO START STUDYING FOR THE TEST TUESDAY ON CHAPTER 1 AND THE HANDOUT (-ar verbs, Ser, Estar, adjectives). The list of items that will be on the test was discussed in class today. If you missed class, it is your responsibility to see a classmate or me regarding this.

Spanish 1:

  • Complete the pages of the handout as instructed in class first on "ser" then "estar" then the section where you have to figure out which is the correct one.
  • Due Wednesday, 10/24: As per what was instructed in class- you are to finish the handout that was due today as well as #1-20 on the sentences handed out.

Spanish 2:

  • Complete p 398 #1-6 from the words above, and read page 399 making sure you understand what you are reading and look up words you don't know.
  • Due Wednesday, 10/24: As per what was instructed in class- you are to finish reading the paragraphs from pp. 399 & 400; answer the questions on p. 400 about the reading.

UPDATE: for Spanish 2

Spanish 2 Quiz Monday will be on Quizlet sections "The Kitchen" (mainly words for table setting) and ALL of "Food 2". The only section from "Food 1" that is included is from the "appetite" to the end of that section, none of the words above appetite are on this one.
**Also, remember I said it would be most commonly used words, so does not include the words oysters, mussels, clams, squash, turnip, celery, plum, apricot or raisin.
