Homework for ALL GRADES is the same.

QUIZ: MONDAY 11/3/14 on phrases and vocabulary for days of the week, months of the year, time, seasons, and weather. To study for the quiz, make sure to reference the handout your homework has been coming from. On the back of the page titled "Las estaciones y el tiempo", there is a half-page devoted to Vocabulary or "Vocabulario" (page 17) that has all of the vocabulary words you need to know for these sections listed on it.

Due Monday, 11/3/14:

• Homework is to finish the worksheet pages on seasons and weather-pages 63, 85, 86, & 87.

Due Wednesday, 11/5/14:

• You will receive a new handout titled "Writing About the Day". We will be working on writing paragraphs about time, date and seasons.
• Homework is to finish the new worksheet pages practicing writing about time, date and seasons as was discussed in class.

Due Monday, 11/7/14:

• We will be working in the previous handout where we left off with the seasons.
• Homework is in the handout, NEW NUMBERING (number actual pages in handout front and back) PLEASE WRITE YOUR ANSWERS ON A SEPARATE SHEET OF PAPER.
• page 12, #3 "Categoriza" Make a list of 3 each of physical appearance & personality characteristics using words from pages 9&10. MAKE SURE TO LABEL EACH LIST CORRECTLY. 
• page 12, #4 "Personaliza" Answer the questions IN SPANISH IN COMPLETE SENTENCES. Remember you take part of the question to form the statement as done in class.
• page 13, #10 " Personaliza" Answer the questions IN SPANISH IN COMPLETE SENTENCES. Use words and conversation on page 9 for help if needed.
• page 13, #11 "Completa la conversacion" YOU DO NOT NEED TO RE-WRITE THE PARAGRAPH. JUST make sure to number the word with the corresponding blank in the paragraph. CONJUGATE the verb ser for the appropriate nouns/persons.
• page 14, #16 "Completa" Make sure you CONJUGATE the verb ser for the appropriate nouns/persons.

•  Review counting 1-20 and the words for 30, 40, and 50.
• We will be learning to tell time. Homework will be to finish the worksheet practicing telling time.

• We will be going over the seasons and weather. Homework will be to finish the worksheet on seasons and weather.
• You will be responsible for the vocabulary for weather and seasons as per the handout.

We will be going through a handout I have for you beginning Wednesday for further practice on the major concepts we have discussed up to this point.

For those of you who are wishing to obtain extra credit toward your recent quiz grade, you may complete the following by Wednesday, October 8 for a total of 25 extra points to be added on to your current quiz grade to bring it up to a maximum of 100%.

 

This means that if you scored a 60% on your quiz and complete ALL of the extra credit activities CORRECTLY, you can add 25 points to this making your new quiz grade an 85%. Then, if you have 2 tickets (worth 5 pts each) to add to your grade, you can bring it up further to a 95%.

4. Memorize the phrases in the purple box on page 37.

7. Know what "Donde" and "Que" mean.

8. Know the words on page 40 and review the yellow box on page 40.

• Section C: Quien=who, quienes=who when talking about pleural. To form the question, you will have to look at the answer. Remember vocabulary comes from the first page of the chapter. May also use your diccionario.

• Section D: Make sure to pay attention to gender and singular or pleural nouns. There is only one correct answer.

• Section E: Refer to the section in Leccion 3 in your book under Estructura. You are choosing el/la/los/las based on the nouns.

• Section F: It gives you a couple sentences about Marisa y Elena. You then write 4  statements about them. As per the example you will begin each sentence with "Marisa y Elena son_________________."

• Section G: It gives you a couple sentences about Paco y Enrique. You then write 4 statements about them. As per the example you will begin each sentence with "Paco y Enrique son_________________."

• Pasatiempos: Using the Vocabulary at the beginning of the previous chapters 1-3, write the OPPOSITES of the given words.

 

4)In your book: page 40, Ejercicio 5. Watch the gender and singular vs pleural.

4) Quiz Monday on Leccion 2. Review Vocabulary on the first page of the chapter as well as concepts throughout chapter. You will need to know the pronouns and conjugation of SER as above.

9th/10th Grades:

1) NO EXAMS HAVE BEEN GRADED. Please review the material below as I have copied it straight from the exam sections. REMEMBER TO TAKE YOUR BOOKS HOME. Plus, remember you have already been given a peek at the exam.

You will need to know the following:

1) Memorize the phrases in the purple box on page 37.

2) Be able to look at the subject of the sentence and put the correct definite article (el/la/los/las) in front of it, such as: la universidad. Know the definite article of the following words: universidad, cafe, alumnas, clases, examines, and profesores so you can choose correctly el/la/los/las for them.  Examples found throughout the chapter.

 3) Know the conjugation for the following regular "-ar" verbs: comprar, trabajar, cantar, caminar, mirar, practicar, escuchar, y estudiar. They all use the following endings:
    yo= -o
    tu= -as
    el/la, ud= -a
    nosotros(as)= -amos
    vosotros(as)= -ais
    ellos/ellas, uds= -an

4) Know what "Donde" and "Que" mean.

5) Know the conjugation of "estar" for yo, tu, el/ella, ud, nosotros(as), ellos/ellas, and uds.
     yo=estoy
     tu=estas
     el/ella, ud=esta
     nosotros(as)=estamos
     ellos/ellas, uds=estan
 
Also, know words for locations that can be found at the end of your chapter on the vocabulary list under headings "the university" and "other nouns".

6) Know the words for bored, happy, worried, and tired.

7) Review "Lectura Cultural" on page 46. There will be reading comprehension on this as well as another paragraph.

8) Practice writing the letter on the practice sheet handed out. This is a copy of it from the test exactly. Memorize the greetings and salutations on page 48.

5th/6th GradesHomework:

1) Memorize the following: (you should already have been studying this...)

PRONOUNS:
yo=I
tu=you (familiar)
el=he
ella=she
usted=you
nosotros(as)=we
ellos, ellas, ustedes=they

Know how to choose the correct pronoun based on who the sentence is referring to, such as: If it says Maria, you use the pronoun for "she" which is ella. If it says Carlos y Lucia, you use the pronoun for "they" which is ellos, and so on...

Examples of this can be found in your book throughout chapters 2 and 3.

CONJUGATION OF THE VERBS "SER":
SER:
yo=soy
tu=eres
el, ella, usted=es
nosotros(as)=somos
ellos, ellas, ustedes=son

4)Do #4 on page 33-Characteristics you look for in a friend. Refer to the vocabulary words on page 26 for examples.

5) Also, on your workbook sheet for "Leccion 2" do section labelled "Pasatiempos" choosing from the same words on page 26.

7th/8th GradesHomework:

You will be asked to complete questions or statements using the conjugations for these.

6) Know Estar + adjectives of conditions as on page 40.
7) There will be a section on listening comprehension.
